Non Immigrant Business Visa

A Thai business visa is necessary for foreigners applying for a job, or willing to open a business in Thailand. Generally, it is better to apply for this visa from outside of Thailand. Moreover, this visa can be extended to a long term visa. This can be done inside Thailand, as well from outside the country.

Thai Business Visa Categories

There are 2 type of business visa in Thailand.

Non-Immigrant B Visa (To Conduct Business)

This is required for foreign nationals intending to conduct a business in Thailand. Now, this type of visa is further classified in two categories.

  • 1-Year Non-Immigrant Visa (Multiple-Entry)
    • This visa is meant for people who wish to operate a business in Thailand and would be required to frequently move in and out of the country. The initial non-immigrant visa can be extended to this visa after the issuance of the work permit.
  • 90 Days Non-Immigrant Visa (Single-Entry)
    • This one is an initial visa issued by the Embassy or Consulate of Thailand in the applicant’s country of residence. It allows the visa holder to stay in Thailand for 90 consecutive days.
Non-Immigrant B Visa (Employment)
  • Foreign nationals who intend to work in Thailand must apply for an initial 90-day Non-Immigrant B visa from their country of residence under the employment category.
  • The applicant would apply for a work permit during the first 90 days of the initial visa.
  • Now, once the applicant receives a work permit, he/she will then apply for the 1-Year Non-Immigrant B visa while in Thailand.
  • The visa holder will have to adhere to a 90-day reporting to the Thai Immigration Office.
  • The applicant will require a re-entry permit, in case he/ she has to travel outside the country.
  • The visa can be renewed in Thailand.
Requirements for a Non-Immigrant B Visa

The applicant must not be a public or a security threat to the Thai government. Later, the applicants must be physically present the country wherein they submit their visa application.

  • Company invitation letter or a confirmation letter to clearly specify the purpose of travel to Thailand.
  • Embassy fee
  • A passport with a 6-month validity from the date of the intended travel in Thailand.
  • Travel itinerary
  • The proof of financial funds
  • Any other supporting documents as asked by the Royal Thai Embassy or the Consulate.
  • The application must be submitted either in-person or by email at the Thailand embassy of the applicant’s country of residence.
Non-Immigrant B Visa Application Process
  • Preparing the required documents provided to the visa applicants by the company, or the person, who has offered employment invitation in Thailand.
  • Submitting the required documents to the Thai embassy or the consulate, either in-person or through email.
  • Paying the embassy fee by cash, credit card, or check.
  • Later, the application is reviewed and processed. The processing time is around 5-10 business days. However, the processing time depends on the Thai embassy or the consulate wherein the application is submitted.
